Zephyr Rovers FC / July 2007

Zephyr Rovers FC is a Division 3 indoor football team playing in the Wellington Indoor Sports lunch time competition. In a previous incarnation as Land Rovers we have twice won Division 7 and we aim to be the best indoor football team in Wellington by 30 June 2030.

      • Zephyr Rovers Chairman George Nash was unimpressed after watching Wellington Phoenix demolish Sydney FC 3 - 0 on Sunday at the Westpac Stadium. "They looked about as strong as my old pub team" declared Nash "and the theatrics of the Brazilians wouldn't have gone down well in Scotland I can tell you".

    • Chopper Toughest
      • Chopper" Colin McIntosh has comfortably won a internet poll for the toughest tackler in the Rovers team in the last match. "I think Chopper has built up quite a reputation in Division 1" said Zephyr Manager Steve Hall "but it is a bit of a surprise to have a forward winning the toughest tackler poll".

    • Chopper Chopped
      • Zephyr Rovers Manager Steve Hall has admitted this evening that his key enforcer Colin "Chopper" McIntosh was nursing an injury and was in doubt for the clash on Monday against Whites. "The lad's been a bit of a marked man since his name got into the media as our hard man" said Hall "he got targeted a bit by Ten Left Feet and he's now nursing an ankle injury". Hall said that he'd expect George Nash to step up into the enforcer role.

    • Chopper To Tone It Down
      • "Chopper" Colin McIntosh (pictured) has confirmed he will tone down his act for the Division 1 clash against Ten Left Feet at the Shed of Dreams on Wednesday. "I've been getting a bit of stick for my uncompromising style" said McIntosh "but I want to be seen as a player of genuine skill not just someone who chops the opposition down at the knees".

      • Jimmy Five Bellies went to the head of Division 1 today with an ominous 20 - 2 thrashing of Infinity. "I don't know the make up of the Infinity line up these days" said Rovers Manager Steve Hall (pictured) "but they used to be a very strong side and it is hard to see how anyone put twenty goals past them".

    • Cao Down In Bar
      • John Cao (pictured) today confirmed rumours that he had proposed to his partner Iona on Saturday. "I was going to go full out for the romantic angle in a hot air balloon in the Wairapapa" said Cao "but the weather was crap so I got down on one knee in a local bar".
