      • Winter’s always a busy period at any hospital, and June 2009 was especially busy with the arrival of the “Swine Flu” pandemic adding further stresses and strains. The arrival of “Novel A H1N1” (to give the swine flu its proper name) required all hospital staff to rapidly adapt to the changing environment. • Just-in-case Tamiflu buyers turned away
      • 30 Jun 2009
      • Newswire.co.nz
      • LARGE numbers of people turning up to Wellington pharmacies to buy Tamiflu are surprised when the answer is “No”. Contrary to most people’s expectation, pharmacists can’t sell the flu treatment to people seeking it as a preventative or to have on hand “just in case”. The SWIS management and Board of Trustees have been kept up to date by the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education as well as Regional Public Health. • Actually the rate increase is closer to 6.5 percent to the residents if you take into account the swimming pool improvements proposed as an option in the DAP (Draft Annual Plan.) The total rate increase including the commercial and residential sector is quoted as 2.8 percent but when the sectors are broken down the commercial is zero and the residential is 6 percent or 6.5 percent depending on the final fix in the DAP.
