      <title>Building a road and saving 30 seconds</title>
      <link>http://wellington.scoop.co.nz/?p=76088</link>
      <description>One of the most extraordinary things about plans to bulldoze a road through the pristine Takapu Valley is the claim about how much time will be saved. They’re counting the savings in seconds.&#xD;
&#xD;
The claim is found in an Appendix to the controversial report in which the chief executives of regional councils tell their mayors that they ought to support a road through the valley.</description>

      <title>Commuting by bicycle in Wellington</title>
      <link>http://cyclingwellington.co.nz/2015/03/commuting-by-bicycle-in-wellington/</link>
      <description>In the past few years the number of people I see on bikes riding from Newtown to town in the morning has literally quadrupled. Unfortunately, many of the people I see stopped at the lights are on seriously terrible bikes.&#xD;
I’m see rusty, too-big or too-small mountain bikes with brakes that barely work and people look unconfident and uncomfortable on their bikes. Riding the wrong bike can actually make cycling seriously not fun.&#xD;
Recently several of my colleagues have gotten bicycles with the intention of cycling to work. I have noticed that they too seem to have missed some items that to me are essential for bike commuting.&#xD;

      <title>Mixed weekend for top teams in weekend interclub</title>
      <link>http://www.wellingtontennisclub.org.nz/mixed-weekend-for-top-teams-in-weekend-interclub/</link>
      <description>Two wins and two losses saw a mixed weekend for our four top teams in interclub last weekend.

Men’s Premier 1 were beaten 1-5 by an experienced Paraparaumu Beach team.
Women’s Premier 1 went down 2-4 to Titahi Bay.

Coastguard Mana spent the day on the water with a crew of volunteers to assist the organisers of the Mana Ocean Race Challenge - a 29km paddle for outrigger canoes, kayaks and surf skis that took them from Mana to Paraparaumu Beach.
Conditions on the day started off calm with light southerlies, but the wind built to around 20 knots later in the course creating some more challenging seas conditions for the competitors.
