    • Carbon Neutral Victoria?

      • Rushing to the airport to catch my mid-trimester flight back to the Bay, I was faced with several taxi cab options. Kiwi Cabs, Amalgamated, Harbour City and Combined, “New Zealand’s first carbon neutral certified cab”. As a wannabe greenie, my choice was easy. En route, I asked the guy behind the wheel why Combined took the carbon neutral plunge.

    • A History of Wellington Comedy
      • 17 May 2009
      • Salient
      • A couple of years ago, Wellington beat out Ekatahuna to be New Zealand’s cultural capital. It’s been an uphill battle to keep our struggling creative industries alive ever since. Comedy, oft considered the bastard genre of entertainment has been something that we as a city have had to toy with. For you see, lads and ladies, Wellington’s comedy tradition is one that is largely tied into the other arts, comedy would occasionally piggy back on one of the mediums that were used for more serious endeavours.

      • 5 Apr 2009
      • Salient
      • United Future MP Peter Dunne has called upon Wellington to become a ‘super city’, a recommendation similar to the one put forward to Auckland by the Royal Commission. “If there are reasons for Auckland to do this, then the reasons behind a Wellington ‘super city’ are even more compelling,” Mr. Dunne said. Dunne suggested that Wellington’s population of 472,000 was reason enough to amalgamate the capital’s nine local councils into one city council.
