Your voice makes a difference. Please have your say on bike lane plans for Aro valley and connections to Karori etc. We think the plans are pretty good but need to be delivered faster, and with some changes. The Council has two options for feedback: quick, or detailed. Here's our two minute guide for quick feedback.

Paneke Pōneke approved

Yesterday, our City Councillors voted strongly in favour of approving Paneke Pōneke, a network of bike lanes that will serve most Wellington suburbs.

This is a huge step forward for Wellington. During the meeting, the network grew by 19kms to cover 166kms.

Within 5 years we will be riding the network, built to a transitional level, like has been achieved on Brooklyn Hill.

Wellington Cycling Framework: progress or procrastination?

On 21 April, a rally of over 350 people who cycle demanded that WCC “get on with it” and start building cycling infrastructure. On 30 April, Council will debate the Wellington Cycling Framework, the “master plan” for developing cycling in Wellington. Is this the start of the progress that the rally demanded, or is it another exercise in procrastination?

This is definitely worth drawing attention to. As I said on my post about the Island Bay cycle routes I am of the opinion that there should be separated cycleways up Adelaide Road and up Riddiford Street (amongst many others). At the Sexify Blog they’re much of the same opinion, at least about Riddiford Street. […]
