      • A new men's record was set on the 10x10 today. The 10km erg, followed by 10km run was won by Star master's squad member Andrew Crosland. Andrew put in a good erg time of 36:21.8 before completing the race in a time of 1:16:59. The women's race was won by newcomer to rowing, Josie Askin. Josie didn't set the world on fire with her erg time, but was able to power past a lot of the contestants on the running section.

      • The NZ national club champs for 2011 was the first regatta to actually complete all its races on an unusually windy Lake Ruataniwha this season. Star sent a small Women's club squad, as well as being represented in the higher grades by our RPC rowers.

    • Redding Shield 2010
      • 12 Sep 2010
      • Star Boating Club
      • Redding Shield, the season opener, was held a week later than scheduled on a shortened Korokoro course. This regatta is usually held in town on the Lambton harbour course, but with all the work on the new wharewaka taking place in town, the makeshift pontoon there would not accommodate the number of crews that would need to boat. Star had wins in the Men's and Women's club 8, and the Women's open double. There were many second and third places, but they weren't enough for the club to retain the Redding Shield - won by Petone R. C.

    • End of Winter 10x10 2010 Results
      • 29 Aug 2010
      • Star Boating Club
      • The end of winter "10x10" challenge, which consists of a 10 kilometre erg followed by a 10 kilometre run has become an annual event, after it was staged for the 2nd time today (Aug 29th) Despite the rain, conditions were much calmer this year. Good times were expected, and Melissa Bray of the Star masters squad managed to shave off over 4 minutes from the best women's time of 2009. With last year's winner Paul Ward off recovering from surgery, no records were broken in the men's event; however Mike Tong and Stu Hancock of the Wellington College squad finished within a minute or two of the magic 80 minute mark to take 1st and 2nd respectively.

    • Motorway Marathon
      • 22 Aug 2010

      • Sunday morning saw the Motorway "Marathon" held for the 2nd year running. Readers from out of Wellington may wonder what the significance of that is - it's difficult finding a day to row a 7.6km race on Wellington harbour. The Wellington College crew managed to defend the Bishop Owen Oar by winning the schools' eights race. In the Mothes Shield (the club fours/quads race), the race organisers were the ultimate winners of the day, as there were no prognostics calculated. This meant that a men's coxless quad was almost guaranteed victory, and this was the case with Petone taking the shield.

    • Manawatu Grunt

      • Star Boating Club
      • Conditions at the Manawatu Grunt this year were much better than last year. The sun was out, there was not as much mud, and there seemed to be fewer cow pats! Sunny conditions on the Manawatu The first of the crews to appear on the home straight were an hour after the official start time of 10am – indicating strong currents on the way up to the start. Other than the currents, the effluent and the occasional log – the water was fine.

      • Star Boating Club's annual prizegiving ceremony will take place on the 10th of June this year. This is a chance for club members to celebrate the acheivements of the last season. High on that list of acheivements will be those of QMC squad members Meg Taylor-Smith and Ruby Tew, who won the U16 double at NISS and came third in the same event at Maadi.
