Street Footy Team Shatters Stereotypes

- Wellington’s Street Footy team won the Fairplay award at a recently completed ‘Mini World Cup’ tournament in Lower Hutt. The multi-ethnic tournament, organised by Sportzone, provided helpful game experience in the 11 a side format.

Homeless World Cup at Human Rights Film Festival

- The Human Rights Film Festival premieres next Thursday (May 7th) with the film Kicking It – a ball can change your life. The film follows the progress of seven Homeless Football World Cup players as they confront the daily challenges of life on the streets, battle drug and alcohol addiction, and fight for the right to be recognised as human beings.

Get training for the Homeless World Cup

- Recruiting has begun to train and select players for the Street Football Aotearoa team to compete at the Homeless World Cup in Melbourne in December. Local practices kick off weekly from the 16th of April at Waitangi Park. All players need to have had experience of homelessness or currently be homeless to qualify.
