All Saints Festival

- We’re looking forward to the 1st of November when we will be combining all services to celebrate All Saints Day with baptisms, confirmations and a parish lunch. Bishop Tom Brown, Bishop of Wellington, will be presiding and it will be a real day of celebration - plan to be there! Small Saints will be running that morning, with the kids coming back in for the baptism.

Halloween Alternative - Jungle Jive

Astronomy in Islam

- Join us for an evening at Ruth Gotlieb Library in Kilbirnie to learn more about the importance of astronomy in Islam as we celebrate Islam Awareness Week. There will be a presentation, displays, time for questions and if it is a clear night a chance to look at the night sky through a telescope. Light refreshments are provided from 6pm and the programme will begin at 6.30pm, Thursday 13 August.

Free Public Screening: Homelessness in NZ

- A free screening of the New Zealand documentary “Putting Homelessness in Focus” is being held next Friday. The 30 minute movie was released earlier this year and is making its way around the country with free public viewings. Wellington City Gallery will host the screening at 6pm on Friday the 30th of May and all are welcome to attend.

Bookfair Best Yet!

- The important work of Downtown Community Ministry got a great boost at the weekend after thousands of Wellingtonians arrived to support the annual Bookfair fundraiser. Organiser David Cross says, “We had a feeling we were in for a big one. We collected a huge number of books and CDs and had tons of enquiries about when and where the fair was”.

Bookfair Collections Begin

- The folk at Downtown Community Ministry need your Books and DVD's for Wellington's annual Bookfair. Next week, book collections start in Wellington central and surrounding suburbs. "It's simple really, box up your books and give us a call" says Bookfair Coordinator David Cross.
