- ‘Bryan, sorry you didn't win the mayoralty, believe me I'm sorry - especially today as the reality of a mayor who sees no value in motorcycles sinks in. Mercer street is now a cash-cow for cars, goodbye Wellington's last motorcycle park. Staggering hypocracy from someone opposed to cars, but hardly surprising given that the cycle-mad 'green' mayor hired a 54 seat Scania bus, the largest possible, and drove around town all day with just 8 people on board. With such a light load I believe they 'only' consume around 55 litres of diesel per 100km.What can we do? Bikes are great for the environment, scooters even more so, but if you get to work and can't park, and don't even have the option of paying to park, then faced with the heavy-handedness of Parkwise your ONLY option is to ride back home and drive your CAR to work.Madness.’

Bikes take a hike
- 28 Oct 2009
- Capital Times
- THE owner of Wellington Vespa service company Mr Scoot says his business will take a hit because of the proposed increase to ACC levy charges to motorcyclists. Matt Brookes says the ACC levies, which may increase by up to 300%, mean people will avoid fixing their bikes, or sell them and use cars and public transport instead.

Park on footpath... for now
- 21 Oct 2009

- “STOP taking us for a ride,” says the director of Scooterazzi Mark Hodson. Hodson is sick of Wellington City Council making and breaking the rules for bike and scooter parking. He’s started an ePetition on the council website to demand action, after bikes in the city had flyers put on the handlebars stating the council will stamp down on illegal parking.

- ‘This is *awesome* but I suspect they are not going to solve the situation by adding just these areas. Not only are half of them in the wrong places, but there’s not enough. The number of scooters sold each week in Wellington is increasing, and when bike sales in Wellington are traditionally flat over winter, all bike shops are reporting a busy winter. ’
- ‘Yes! We need more bike and scooter parking places, and also places to stow our riding gear and helmets. ’

- ‘Well Pepp..Motorcyclists are no doubt seen by the Mayor & her cronies as '..not really mattering..' when it comes to voting at this year's election.After-all, whats a few votes from a group who wouldn't have voted for her in the 1st place?Motorcyclists are also a force to be reckoned with when it comes to political lobbying & mild Civil Disobedience..The 'Mayor' should be wary of ANY negative publictity. Her tenure is on a knife edge anyway!God knows it's typical of the arrogant attitude displayed during her time in office. I believe she would be better served returning to Midwifery. The individuals she delivers do'nt talk back and are incapable of independent thought. That should suit her temperament admirably.’
